Mobile Trends and The Implications to Digital Signage
In 1994 the Federal Communications Commission presided over the first auction of wireless communications spectrum for the purpose of providing digital personal communications services on cell phones and pagers.  It was envisioned that these auctions would spawn a flurry of innovation as well as the development of life changing mobile applications.  Many of these dreams, e.g. the growing ubiquity of mobile voice communications, came to fruition, but the vision of life changing; ubiquitous mobile data applications never appeared – until recently.  This session will examine why after 15 years the dream of mobile data applications has finally become a reality, the reasons behind the change and the implications to digital signage and the consumer experience.
