David Wilkins is currently President and CEO of X2O Media, a world leader in digital signage solutions, created in the spring of 2006.  Prior to founding X2O, David founded VertigoXmedia Inc. which was sold to Miranda Technologies in April 2006.  X2O Media was created by spinning off the Digital Signage Business Unit from VertigoXmedia prior to the sale of the company.

VertigoXmedia received widespread recognition early in its history by developing an automated 3D broadcast graphics control system for ABC’s Monday Night Football. Since then, Vertigo’s products and services have been used for numerous high-profile broadcast productions, including Super Bowl XXXIII, the Major League Baseball World Series, EuroCup soccer, the US Presidential Elections, Canadian Federal Elections and more. Customers included ABC, CBS, CBC/Radio Canada, Comcast, Court TV, CNBC, CNN, ESPN, FOX News, FOX Sports, HSN, MSNBC, NBC, NY1, Time Warner Cable and other major broadcasters around the world.     X2O Media has also succeeded in establishing itself as a leader in the new field of digital signage with prominent corporate customers such as Air Canada, Lockheed Martin, Motorola, and major deals in the retail segment with customers such as Airplay America.

David is the holder of two U.S. patents for core technology designs, and is often invited to speak at industry events including the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers, the National Association of Broadcasters, Government Video Expo, and others.  He has authored numerous articles and has been quoted extensively in industry press.

As a successful entrepreneur, David has received praise from his peers as well as from numerous industry organizations.  Under David’s direction, X2O Media garnered a Digital Signage Content Award in 2008 for its innovative work in the design of an interactive display for the Hyatt Regency Hotel. VertigoXmedia ranked among the Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 both in 2001 and 2002 as well as the North American Fast 500. The company was also named Small Enterprise of the Year by the National Bank in 2001. In 2003, he was awarded two ARISTAs, the Quebec Young Entrepreneur and Exporter of the Year Awards from Montreal’s Young Chamber of Commerce, the first time in the 20 year history of this contest that two awards were bestowed to a single individual.  In 2004, David was named to the prestigious Canada’s Top 40 Under 40™ sponsored by Caldwell Partners and The Globe and Mail.

Prior to founding his own companies, David, who holds an Engineering degree from Concordia University as well as an MBA from McGill University, worked as a Program Manager for Discreet Logic Inc.  At Discreet, he managed system integration projects for high-profile customers in their Broadcast Graphics group. David also worked for CAE Electronics where he completed complex flight simulator projects for international airline customers.

Making or Breaking Your Digital Signage Network: How Good Content Wins Customer Loyalty
With so many different technologies available to support a digital signage network, it's no wonder that most companies find themselves focusing on the behind-the-scenes nuts and bolts of their system instead of investing valuable time on developing content — the part of the network that customers will actually see. Even the most advanced digital signage platform will fail to earn viewers if the content it deploys is not strong. Digital signage audiences, accustomed to the sophistication of broadcast TV, are expecting more from digital signage networks than ever before, so the ability to create compelling content is of vital importance.
