The mPOS marketplace is currently experiencing exponential growth worldwide and Star is at the forefront of the mPOS revolution. After building an exhaustive Web site for the Mississippi Coastal Birding Trail, the local Audubon Society wanted to further increase awareness of the local birding trails in Southern Mississippi. With the popularity of nature tourism, they decided that creating informational kiosks inside the I-10 welcome centers would be a great way to provide visitors with the information they needed to access the trails and spot the many beautiful birds in the area.
To deliver these kiosks, the National Audubon Society turned to MokiTouch as the solution for this project. With the ability to lock these kiosks into the MCBT Web site, travelers will now have access to detailed trail and bird information when visiting the welcome centers.
This new kiosk project was featured in the local news, highlighting the excitement they have for these kiosks and the ability to easily share the information on the local bird watching trails.
We are thrilled to be a part of this project and certainly look forward to its successful rollout in the coming months.

Chicago-based Visible Spectrum, Inc. (“VSI”) today released version 4.0 of its web-based platform for creating full motion HD videos in real time.
In addition to a new web look and feel, VSI 4.0 introduces revolutionary new technology for an even easier way to create custom video: ‘Do it for me’ automated ad creation. Users may now either compose sophisticated videos themselves, using VSI’s original professional tools; or, have the system build custom ads for them.
John Malec, VSI CEO, states: “Using nothing more than the user’s business name and zip code the software finds the business on the web; classifies it into 1 of 250 business types; captures contact info, logo and images from the web; and in real time builds 8 video ads for that specific business. The user selects one and may tweak it by: choosing between 15 and 30 second versions; changing background color; customizing text fields; and/or replacing images. It’s so easy they’re out the door with a custom, full motion HD video ad in minutes for $99.”
For those wanting greater flexibility, the original ‘Do it myself’ option provides powerful professional editing tools, over 1,000 designer-built templates, and a web-based tool to make custom templates. Licensed users may even create Adobe After Effects projects which VSI replicates as VSI templates.
Both options are seamlessly tied to a cloud of stock assets that exceeds 60 million: images, clips and music/sound tracks. Drag and drop functionality allows the user to place any stock clip or image into any composition in real time. Everything is web-based with no software to download.
VSI’s speed makes it ideal for agile marketing – the quick turnaround of an ad to respond to a market or world event. The low price per video makes it a necessity to producing quality targeted advertising.
VSI’s platform has now been used to create and render over 25,000 videos. Most were created in under 30 minutes directly by end users with no formal training in graphic design. Others have utilized VSI’s Variable Data Video, which associates a master creative theme with spreadsheet data, producing dozens or thousands of customized videos . . . with no manual input beyond matching the master fields to the database.
Anyone with an internet connection can try VSI’s tool at no charge. Just create an account and begin. You pay nothing unless you want to take delivery of your finished composition – allowing free “trial and error” learning. VSI provides upload to YouTube and Brightcove; and, direct file download or delivery via an FTP site.
About Visible Spectrum, Inc.
Visible Spectrum, Inc. (“VSI”) provides an affordable web-based system for creating custom videos for any digital platform. The marketing equation has changed with new terms like targeted, hyper-local, agile, persistent, mobile — moving to the forefront. Fine tuning targeted audiences requires exponentially more custom content. VSI automates the process, enabling you to create custom versions of every video you need – each in full HD broadcast quality ready-to-play on any digital platform. The system makes custom video production affordable even for small targeted segments where production costs must be amortized across only thousands of viewers instead of tens of millions.
VSI users also have access to tens millions of cloud-based searchable assets and hundreds of professionally created templates. Or, users can create custom templates from scratch with the built-in custom template maker. Small business owners can create ads in minutes with VSI’s “Do it for me” that classifies a business and auto-builds 8 ads using just the business name and zip code.
It’s quick, easy and affordable. Most importantly, VSI’s production values are indistinguishable from spots costing tens of thousands of dollars.

SANTIAGO, Chile – Christie® 3-chip DLP® projectors and Christie Spyder X20 image processors were used to spectacular effect at high-profile corporate events held in Santiago’s Espacio Riesco Convention Center recently in conjunction with Proyección de Ideas (PI), a company specializing in audiovisual content and engineering.
Working exclusively with Christie projectors, Santiago-based Proyección de Ideas has been the driving force behind manifold corporate events, monumental projections and fixed installations for over ten years.
Marco Gajardo, CTO of Proyección de Ideas, stated, “The excellent performance of the Christie 3-chip DLP® means that we can operate 24 hours absolutely problem-free. We need highly versatile projectors for our projects, and when it comes to resolution, we know Christie projectors are capable of responding to whatever is thrown at us. In addition, when making adjustments, the built-in Twist software provides us with a wider set of tools.”
Christie and PI at Banco Santander Convention
For the annual Banco Santander convention that hosts over 300 executives from this banking institution, Proyección de Ideas installed a striking 80-meter by 9-meter curved screen that surrounded the audience.

A Christie Roadie HD+35K projected on the center of the screen while four blended and warped Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors – two on the left section and two on the right section – covered the rest of the screen. All five projectors were horizontally suspended and provided 9600 by 1080 total resolution.
Using a Christie Spyder X20 video processor, multiple signals from closed circuit cameras were incorporated into picture-in-picture projections with everything coordinated by mamboPlayer, the media server developed by Proyección de Ideas’ software engineering department.
Christie and PI at Entel Summit
Entel Summit is an annual innovations, technology and business meeting. Now in its seventh year, this year’s ‘Towards a Total Connectivity,’ theme featured a talk by Joi Ito, the influential entrepreneur, technological investor and Director of the MIT Media Lab.
With mise-en-scène critical, Proyección de Ideas devised a stunning five-screen multiple projection of videos with content created by the company using 2D and motion graphic elements.

The 20.8-meter by 4.5-meter central screen featured three blended and warped Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors while the four 6.1-meter by 4.5-meter side screens – each lit by a Christie Roadster HD14K-M – were used to display the signals from the close circuit cameras.
Proyección de Ideas used the Christie Spyder X20 processor and mamboPlayer media server to compose and mix the live CCTV signals with presentations and videos. The presentation, enhanced by DMX lighting interacting with the on-screen visuals, impressed the 1,300-plus audience.
Niall Ferguson lecture featuring Christie and PI technology
World-renowned historian Niall Ferguson visited Chile to give a lecture organized by Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and for his speech, Proyección de Ideas conceived a spectacular semicircular design consisting of a 14.93-meter by 4.4-meter central screen and 16 additional panels for a 32-meter by 5-meter overall projection surface. From a throw distance of 10.35 meters, two blended Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors showed 2D elements, motion graphics and ambient loops created by Proyección de Ideas on the central screen while four Christie Roadster HD14K-M projectors projected onto the side screens. One Christie Spyder X20 and one mamboPlayer media server processed the images.
Sofofa annual dinner turns to Christie and PI
Chaired by the country’s President, Michelle Bachelet, the annual Sociedad de Fomento Fabril (Sofofa) dinner is Chile’s most important business event and for this event, Proyección de Ideas deployed a 54-meter by 5.5-meter flat screen. Seven independent signals were projected with one Christie Roadie HD+35K managing the central section of the screen while two Roadster HD14K-M’s and one Roadster HD20K-J were used for each of the side sections.

The presentation – using 3D elements and motion graphics created by Proyección de Ideas – examined the history and future of Sofofa with supporting material featuring some of Chile’s most beautiful landscapes.
Apart from the main screens, two additional 6.1-meter by 3.43-meter screens displayed images from the closed circuit cameras with each screen using a Christie DHD800 1-chip DLP® projector. Two Christie Spyder X20 image processors and four mamboPlayer media servers managed the presentation flawlessly.

Innovative large-screen display delivers optimum visual ergonomics even in high brightness environments
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NEC Display Solutions of America has launched the MultiSync® X474HB, a large-screen display bringing an engaging digital signage option for high brightness environments and sunlight-proof operation.
The 47-inch specialty LCD display is designed to intelligently adapt to its surroundings, offering a bright, clear image when required, without wasting energy when it's not. Offering a brightness of up to 2000 cd/m2 – nearly three times that of most other professional large-screen displays – the X474HB is easily visible in shopping windows or cabinets for outdoor applications.
"NEC's X474HB display is designed to cope with the durability and readability challenges that often arise in sunlit areas. As such, this display is ideal for any heavy duty digital signage application that requires enhanced visual performance, flexible control and connectivity as well as long operating hours,” said Keith Yanke, Senior Director for Large-screen Displays and Projectors at NEC Display Solutions.
X474HB Benefits
- Optimal visual ergonomics are ensured thanks to a 10-bit color S-IPS panel, which allows for deeper blacks and better off-angle viewing
- Direct LED backlighting and new localized dimming functionality allow for improved contrast ratio and lower power consumption
- A Quarter-Lambda optical film is integrated to overcome polarization of light emitted by the display. This guarantees full readability in semi-outdoor installations for both landscape and portrait orientations when wearing polarized sunglasses
- An NFC sensor is incorporated into the chassis which can be addressed via a matching app for Android devices. This will help reduce installation cost as several displays can be easily configured before they are mounted
- Built-in OPS (Open Pluggable Specification) option slot and expanded connectivity options, such as DisplayPort 1.2, give installers flexibility and reduce overall setup time
- The combination of intelligent power saving and thermal management features not only reduces energy usage, but also ensures that the display aligns with NEC's Green Vision for sustainability and is as eco-friendly as possible
The X474HB display is available now at an estimated street price of $4,149. The display ships with a 3-year parts and labor warranty, including the backlight.

Solution offers active switching based on real HDMI signal detection
Kramer Electronics announced today the release of the VS-211HA, an auto switcher that allows flexible, active switching based on real signal detection.
VS-211HA can switch inputs while keeping the output active and HDMI links alive, making it more efficient and reliable than a standard standby switcher. Users can easily select between auto switching (last-connected or priority) and manual switching modes (manual and manual override), offering use-case flexibility.
VS-211HA detects real HDMI signals instead of just 5V presence, allowing auto switching only to sources actually in use. HDMI 5V output turns off when no inputs are connected to enable cascaded setups and to let displays go into sleep mode.
The Kramer VS-211HA offers full signal re-clocking and parallel analog audio and HDMI switching. VS-211HA also features HEC, ARC and 3D pass-through and supports full HD video up to 6.75Gbps (2.25Gbps per graphic channel).

The company also unveiled its new BrightSign LS product line, a pair of very affordable, full-featured devices for commercial audio and price-sensitive digital signage applications. Lastly, targeted at the higher end of the industry demanding unsurpassed performance, the company recently began shipping its flagship line of 4K players. All told, this is BrightSign’s most comprehensive portfolio of digital signage media players to-date.
“BrightSign is a company with a solid focus on technology and innovation – we've seen this time and again through the company's participation as an exhibitor on our traveling E4 AV Tour," said Brian Rhatigan, business development manager for Almo Professional A/V. "Our reseller partners ask for BrightSign's products by name because of this leadership, and they are sure to be pleased with the technical advancements to the product lines as these updates will enable even more dynamic and engaging installations."
BrightSign’s portfolio of digital signage media players now consists of 10 players across four product lines:
BrightSign LS
BrightSign’s new LS series players are ideal for customers who require the affordability of a low-cost solution, but who desire a purpose-built device with greater reliability, flexibility and performance. The LS422 ($250) is capable of 1080p30 single video decoding, with features such as GPIO and USB interactivity, and S/PDIF for digital sound to easily outperform any similarly priced device. The LS322 ($200) is a fully featured commercial audio device with S/PDIF connectivity capable of handling any audio-only installation. Both of BrightSign’s new LS players are purpose-built for digital signage and audio applications, with reliability and longevity of support that simply can’t be beat.
BrightSign HD
Refined from three models down to two, and updated with a new feature set that establishes a new standard for PC-class performance at affordable price points, BrightSign HD now supports HTML5 and 1080p60 content. Both the HD222 ($350) and HD1022 ($500) offer the ability to deliver networked content updates and live data feeds, along with GPIO interactivity, UDP support and video wall synchronization. Both models are updated with a new “remote snapshot” feature that provides a snapshot view of your running presentation using local networking and the BrightSign App, or via the BrightSign Network. Additionally, the HD1022 delivers supplemental interactivity options via USB 2.0 and serial connectivity.
BrightSign XD
All three of BrightSign’s XD models have been updated with an even faster graphics and HTML5 engine, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and the added convenience of remote viewing capabilities. All of these elevated capabilities are delivered at the same price points of their predecessors. The XD232 ($450) boasts faster graphics and HTML5 engine and PoE, as well as interactive capabilities via UDP commands and the BrightSign App, plus GPIO controls and video wall synchronization. The XD1032 ($600) also includes S/PDIF output for pure digital and surround sound audio, and additional interactive controls via serial and dual USB 2.0 ports. And the XD1132 ($650) adds Live TV playback via HDMI, even HDCP-protected content.
BrightSign 4K
The three BrightSign 4K models remain the most sought-after solutions for systems integrators who are building installations that showcase the latest technological advances up to and including 4K playback. The 4K242 ($600) offers PoE, as well as the most powerful video engine capable of dual decoding of one 4K video and one Full HD video simultaneously. It includes abundant content support such as HTML5, live media feeds, IP streaming, and more. The GPIO port offers basic interactivity, while the Ethernet port supports networked interactivity for synchronized video walls, mobile device interactivity and messaging between BrightSign and third-party devices using UDP commands. The 4K1042 ($700) adds S/PDIF output for pure digital surround sound audio and a multitude of interactive controls for engaging interactive displays including GPIO, serial, USB and UDP. Rounding out the 4K lineup, BrightSign’s top-of-the-line 4K1142 ($850) also delivers Live TV playback via the HDMI input, even HDCP-protected content.
To help customers quickly determine the most appropriate player for their particular application, BrightSign now offers a free, web-based Product Selector Tool. Customers are prompted to answer a short series of questions about their installation – the answers to which ultimately steer them to the BrightSign product that best suits their needs.
“BrightSign now offers the industry’s most competitive, complete line-up of digital signage media players, from BrightSign 4K players offering the best of the best in features and technology all the way down to a new low-cost commercial-grade signage player that’s a far superior alternative to the consumer devices that many people use for low-cost applications,” said Jeff Hastings, CEO of BrightSign. “And at the core of our portfolio, we were able to upgrade our next-generation HD and XD players with the latest technology to support new functionality and features, including HTML5, while maintaining existing price points across the board.”

The Breeze multi-head player brings an affordable way to have large-scale visual impact with the simplicity of a single media player that doubles as a video wall controller. Supporting 1080P on each digital screen, inspiring video walls are now in the grasp of aspiring businesses that refuse to settle for ordinary.
LENEXA, Kan. – Keywest Technology has launched a multi-head digital signage player using a powerful Intel® Core™ i7 CPU running on an Ubuntu® open source software platform. The multi-head player supports up to six 1080P channels, which provide a total resolution of 11,520 x 6,480 pixels, giving it the ability to create impressive video walls using thin bezel LCD screens. The player is controlled via the company’s cloud-based digital signage service called Breeze Digital Signage®.
Breaking tradition from the miniature-sized media players that are common today, the multi-head player is housed in a rugged 1.5RU server chassis that is designed for 24/7 operation. It uses an integrated six-port HDMI display card with Mini DisplayPort outputs. The chassis also uses a beefy 400W PSU with two internal cooling fans and a typical front to back flow-thru design for superior heat management.
“Our 6-head digital signage player gives system integrators, interior designers and architects an attractive choice for designing large displays with readily available thin-bezel LCD technology,” commented Keywest Technology’s President Nick Nichols. “The 6-head digital signage player is designed to work with all commercial-grade LCD products, allowing AV designers to implement video walls or menu arrays with only a few components. This is an ideal technology for creating larger-than-life images that are attractive, affordable and reliable.”
The Breeze Multi-Head 6 player is really two products in one. First and foremost, it is a digital signage media player. The player connects to a cloud server to download and cache content automatically or based on a schedule. Automatic content is typically sourced from built-in widgets that pull data from Internet or third-party sources. The widgets allow for multiple weather, news and RSS feeds, but third-party providers deliver syndicated and customized content feeds.
Another way of controlling content is by scheduling playlists through an online editor. The 6-head player can be easily controlled from anywhere using the Internet. For example, an administrator or assigned user logs in to their secured account on the BreezeDigitalSignage.com website. From there, access is given to upload media, create playlists, and schedule playlists based on date and time of day. Advanced digital signage management tools like nested playlists, an advertising module, and an admin approval queue are also provided.
The second function of the 2-in-1 multi-head player is the multi-screen controller, which performs similarly to a video wall controller. The supplied setup software allows up to 6 screens to be configured, either in landscape or portrait orientation. This gives some variation and flexibility on the outcome, with users deciding to have individual content on each channel or preferring to spread content to all of the displays combined. In either scenario, the displays must all be of the same model and resolution, with 1080P being the preferred default.
The Breeze Multi-Head 6 is being delivered now, with several notable installations including the fully restored and updated Orpheum Theater in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. AV system integrators, architectural media designers and digital signage resellers are encouraged to inquire for more information on the Breeze Digital Signage website: http://www.breezedigitalsignage.com

LOS GATOS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- BrightSign, LLC, the global market leader in digital signage media players, today announced the most comprehensive portfolio update in the company's history. Headlining today's news is the next generation of BrightSign's award-winning HD and XD product lines, all of which offer greatly increased performance while maintaining existing price points. All told, this is BrightSign's most comprehensive portfolio of digital signage media players to-date.
"BrightSign is a company with a solid focus on technology and innovation -- we've seen this time and again through the company's participation as an exhibitor on our traveling E4 AV Tour," said Brian Rhatigan, business development manager for Almo Professional A/V. "Our reseller partners ask for BrightSign's products by name because of this leadership, and they are sure to be pleased with the technical advancements to the product lines as these updates will enable even more dynamic and engaging installations."
BrightSign's portfolio of digital signage media players now consists of 10 players across four product lines:
BrightSign LS
BrightSign's new LS series players are ideal for customers who require the affordability of a low-cost solution, but who desire a purpose-built device with greater reliability, flexibility and performance. Both of BrightSign's new LS players are purpose-built for digital signage and audio applications, with reliability and longevity of support that simply can't be beat.
Both models are updated with a new "remote snapshot" feature that provides a snapshot view of your running presentation using local networking and the BrightSign App, or via the BrightSign Network. Additionally, the HD1022 delivers supplemental interactivity options via USB 2.0 and serial connectivity.
BrightSign XD
All three of BrightSign's XD models have been updated with an even faster graphics and HTML5 engine, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and the added convenience of remote viewing capabilities.
Rounding out the 4K lineup, BrightSign's top-of-the-line 4K1142 ($850) also delivers Live TV playback via the HDMI input, even HDCP-protected content.
To help customers quickly determine the most appropriate player for their particular application, BrightSign now offers a free, web-based Product Selector Tool. Customers are prompted to answer a short series of questions about their installation -- the answers to which ultimately steer them to the BrightSign product that best suits their needs.
"BrightSign now offers the industry's most competitive, complete line-up of digital signage media players, from BrightSign 4K players offering the best of the best in features and technology all the way down to a new low-cost commercial-grade signage player that's a far superior alternative to the consumer devices that many people use for low-cost applications," said Jeff Hastings, CEO of BrightSign. "And at the core of our portfolio, we were able to upgrade our next-generation HD and XD players with the latest technology to support new functionality and features, including HTML5, while maintaining existing price points across the board."
BrightSign's new portfolio is a testament to the company's commitment to innovation -- refreshing its legacy products with the latest technology and delivering new products to serve even the most highly specialized digital signage vertical markets.
