The next couple of years will be transformative ones for technologies, altering the ‘communication’ experience for a generation. Innovative products and solutions are changing the way consumers interact with their mobile, PC and ambient environment. One of the most exciting advancements will come when the 3D hologram concept turns into reality. The ability to interact with a three dimensional figure will change the communication experience forever.
Holograms are already having an impact in larger conference venues creating on stage virtual presentations. Holographic technologies are already emerging in unique environments around the world. Many, me included, are closely following the 3D application development being worked on for the iPad®. I find the iPad® app development especially interesting in that it is being driven by interactive technology. Being from the digital signage industry, integration of 3D holograms, or at a minimum the incorporation of hologram development into strategic planning, application development and growth appears to be a WHEN not IF scenario.
Potential uses are unlimited. Anyone who has seen a Hollywood movie in 3D, has gotten a glimpse at the compelling experience that three dimensional interactions to educate, inform, engage, convert, and sell possess.
