Source Technologies increases WIC footprint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. · Source Technologies, provider of integrated solutions for managing financial transactions and other secure business processes, announced in a news release that with the addition of four new customers in 2005, the company now provides MICR printing solutions to 26 states for their federal Women Infant and Children (WIC) program vouchers. "Particular to WIC's needs, our printers support all voucher designs as well as the MICR strip on the back, which provides tracking and identification capabilities. Wincor Nixdorf continues growing its self-service business in China

Bank of China, the bank with the richest tradition in the country, has awarded Wincor Nixdorf an order to expand its network of automated teller machines. With immediate effect, the bank is providing its customers with additional self-service functions via 415 extra ProCash 2050xe ATMs. This strategically significant order saw Wincor Nixdorf coming out on top once more in the face of tough competition and is proof positive of the company's successful business expansion in Asia.

Customers can use the monofunction ProCash 2050xe machines to withdraw cash and make balance enquiries. The systems are characterized by high performance and high availability (uptime). Their user-friendly interface and an optical user interface on all input/output modules make the machines extremely easy to use. The Bank of China's new enlarged ATM network offers all customers even faster, more immediate self-services 24 hours a day.

"Winning this project at the bank with the richest tradition in China means we have created an excellent foundation for growing the business further in China. One of the key success factors in this project was the performance of our ATMs and also the creative branch design we want to implement at the bank," explained Collin Eu, Managing Director of Wincor Nixdorf China.

Bank of China (BOC) is the bank with the richest tradition in China. Established in 1912, it has 11,609 branches at home and 549 abroad.

Wincor Nixdorf AG continued its course of profitable growth and further expanded its market position in the fiscal year 2004/2005 (ending September 30). Group sales increased 11 percent to €1,744 million (previous year: €1,576 million). Adjusted for exchange rate fluctuations between the U.S. dollar and the euro, group sales rose 12 percent. Group operating profit (EBITA) increased 17% to €137 million (€ 116 million last time). The increase resulted from a significant rise in operating performance and further improved cost structures. Net profit for the period increased to €55 million (€44 million). In addition, Wincor Nixdorf increased its operating cash-flow to €133 million (€122 million) while reducing its net debt to €176 million (€234 million).

The improved profitability in fiscal 2004/2005 will benefit the shareholders of Wincor Nixdorf AG. At the Annual General Meeting of shareholders on February 21, 2006 in Paderborn, Germany, a dividend of €2.10 per share for fiscal 2004/2005 will be recommended, representing a 74 percent increase over the previous year (€1.21 per share). The payout will increase to €34.7 million from €20 million.

"These figures confirm our growth strategy," said Chief Executive Officer Karl-Heinz Stiller at a press conference in Düsseldorf, Germany, on December 14."We are continuing to grow our business with banks and retailers, expand globally and tap new growth potential." Stiller was optimistic about the company continuing its profitable course in fiscal 2005/2006, assessing the necessary market conditions as favorable. "We expect sales to grow by eight percent and operating profit (EBITA) by 10 percent," the CEO said.

Internationalization driving growth
The sales increase in fiscal 2004/2005 was driven entirely by the international business. In Europe - excluding Germany - sales increased 18 percent to €902 million (€764 million). "After becoming the European market leader in retail, we are now close to reaching this goal in banking," said Stiller, commenting on the significant business growth in Europe, which exceeded the market. In Germany, sales dipped slightly to €513 million (€515 million). Strong growth was also achieved in the Americas, with sales up 18 percent to €133 million. Based on the U.S. dollar, sales increased by 23 percent.

Full IT service provider for business process solutions in retail banking branches
In the fiscal year, retail banking sales grew 11 percent to €1,028 million (€930 million). The growth was largely the result of international sales. Operating profit (EBITA) grew 14 percent (€13 million) to €105 million.

In addition to quality, new solutions for complete business processes in branch offices with integrated hardware and software as well as services have provided a competitive advantage. These solutions, for instance, offer a total cost of ownership advantage for the duration of a system's installation. Examples of these new solutions are self-service systems that accept both checks and cash and book accordingly.

Retail business benefited from innovation and services
In the retail segment, sales also grew 11 percent to €716 million (€646 million). The increase was driven largely by international orders. Operating profit (EBITA) grew 28 percent to €32 million
(€25 million).

In the product business area, the common system platform for nearly all Wincor Nixdorf's electronic POS terminals, self-service and automation systems provided a competitive advantage. In the solutions business, the Company benefited from its strength in application software and systems integration. Reverse vending and lottery systems also contributed to the retail segment's growth.

Strong growth in solutions/services for banks and retailers
Net sales of hardware products increased nine percent across the Group, while those in the solutions/services segment rose
14 percent. As a result, the solutions/services share of total sales grew to 41 percent (40 percent). The long-term goal is to increase this share to around half of total sales.

Wincor Nixdorf experienced increasing demand for complex IT services in the branch office, such as cash management and network-supported IT operations of self-service systems. Both are core elements of outsourcing projects, which banks are increasingly introducing to relieve themselves of IT tasks and focus on their core business. In fiscal 2004/2005, Wincor Nixdorf won several long-term outsourcing contracts from well-known international banks. In Germany, the Company and two savings banks launched the outsourcing joint venture Wincor Nixdorf Portavis GmbH in which Wincor Nixdorf has a majority stake.

Increased investments in research and development
In the fiscal year under review, Wincor Nixdorf invested around €78 million (€73 million) - an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous year - in research and development (R&D), or 4.5 percent of net sales, in a move to ensure the technological strength of the company in the future. The number of employees in R&D rose to 714 (660).

Number of employees increased again
Against the general trend, Wincor Nixdorf increased the number of employees in Group by 823 to 6,937 (6,114) again in fiscal 2004/2005. The Group now employs more people outside Germany - 3,542 - than in the country (3,395). Most of the new employees were in the services area. The international sales network was also expanded.

Confirmed outlook
In fiscal 2005/2006, the Group expects to increase sales by eight percent and EBITA by 10 percent not only through its international activities. The German business is also expected to contribute to sales growth again.

Given the continued growth of the global economy, Wincor Nixdorf expects to grow its business with banks and retailers. Both sectors, however continue to face fierce competition internationally. This competition has led to ongoing modernization and restructuring in branch and store operations for which Wincor Nixdorf offers innovative solutions. In addition, the Company continues to expand its activities in neighboring branches such as lottery and postal companies as well as food establishments and service stations.

"We can confirm our outlook based on our recent successful contracts for outsourcing projects and reverse vending systems," Stiller said. "We will continue to strive to keep our promise, as reliability is the prerequisite for trust, which our customers, employees and investors have placed in us."

Kazkommertsbank (KKB) has officially opened the country's first two-zone branch, named Homebank, in the centrally situated Promenade shopping center in Almaty. In doing so, KKB is demonstrating its innovation leadership in its own market. Among others, government representatives will attend the local opening ceremony.

The design of this multifunctional branch was developed and implemented together with Wincor Nixdorf. A newly expanded self-service zone, where all routine activities are migrated to self-service machines, ensures that process flows at the bank are optimized and enables customers to carry out their cash transactions around the clock.

At the beginning of the year, Kazkommertsbank decided to develop a leading-edge and highly functional branch concept jointly with Wincor Nixdorf. In developing the self-service zone, Wincor Nixdorf attached particular importance to a flexible modular design. This allows Homebank to replace all currently installed ProCash self-service systems from Wincor Nixdorf with new ProCash systems quickly and easily. This standardized design means that the concept can also be applied at other branches in future.

In the outer area of the branch is a self-service zone that can be accessed around the clock and is fitted with multifunction ProCash systems from Wincor Nixdorf. The ProCash 3100xe with its deposit and dispensing function enables above all stores and businesses at the shopping center to deposit their daily takings at any time. The self-service branch is rounded out by two ProInfo terminals: Internet banking, cashless transactions and information services are now available to customers at all times.

Since all cash and non-cash transactions are handled in the new self-service zone, Homebank's employees can devote themselves fully to advising customers in the new service zone. By shifting responsibility in this way, the bank can also create a "barrier-free" consulting zone.

Services for the new Homebank are being provided by IBS Kazakhstan, Wincor Nixdorf's local partner.

Kazkommertsbank
Kazkommertsbank was founded in 1990 and is now Kazakhstan's largest private bank. It operates both in corporate and retail banking business. The bank announced net income of KZT 8.689 million (USD 63.9 million) as of December 31, 2004. In addition to its main branch in Almaty, Kazkommertsbank has 22 branches, 51 subordinate branches and 12 service centers throughout Kazakhstan, an agency in London and a branch in Kyrgyzstan. The bank issues Visa and Europay / MasterCard, as well as AmericanExpress and Diners Club cards and its credit and customer cards have access to the Cirrus / Maestro system. It was Kazakhstan's first bank to issue smart cards. The bank has an ATM network comprising 299 machines and was also the first local bank to offer its customers telephone and Internet banking.

Space-saving design ideal for kiosk, gaming and light industrial applications

MENLO PARK, Calif. (Dec. 6, 2005) — Elo TouchSystems, Inc., the global leader in touch technology and a business unit of Tyco Electronics, announces the addition of a new cost-effective rear-mount touchmonitor as part of its expanding 1000 series. The new 1537L 15 LCD rear-mount touchmonitor joins its existing 1515L 15 and 1715L 17 desktop touchmonitor siblings expanding Elo's family of affordable entry-level touch solutions for kiosk information systems, gaming and amusement, and light industrial shop-floor automation.  The new space-saving touchmonitor is "designed for touch" with Elo's proven expertise and

reliability already built in. The integrated precision minibezel seals the touchscreen against dirt, dust and liquids simplifying integration into the customer's enclosure. The 1537L rear-mount touchmonitor is available with a choice of Elo's IntelliTouch surface wave, AccuTouch five-wire resistive or surface capacitive touch technologies, plus a dual serial/USB touch interface. Worldwide agency approvals cover the whole monitor, which is designed, built, serviced and supported by Elo, a single-source supplier.

"Although this is an entry-level touchmonitor, it still bears the classic signs of Elo's design and development expertise," says James Witkowski, Elo product manager. "The 1537L rear-mount touchmonitor features a watertight minibezel with a thin border design that not only saves space but also improves the feedback from the surface capacitive touch option. The compact 1537L is a mere 336 mm (13.44?) wide, 264 mm (10.56?) high and only 41 mm (1.64?) deep," Witkowski notes. "The 1537L also features an interface that is compatible with both industry-standard touchscreen protocols, including Elo's SmartSet protocol. This offers an alternative to customers currently limited by their existing capacitive monitor options."

According to Mike Sigona, Elo market manager, "The 1537L is only one in a large family of rear-mount touchmonitors whose sizes range from 12" to 19". We also offer a choice of panels including wide viewing angle panels, and a choice of the three most popular touch technologies on the market today: the antiglare clarity and superior performance of IntelliTouch surface-wave; Elo's time-tested AccuTouch five-wire resistive touch technology, which can be used in a variety of environments because it provides a fast,
accurate response to input from a finger, gloved hand, credit card or stylus; and Elo's surface capacitive technology." These choices are good news, Sigona notes, for customers who want an alternative to their current capacitive technology. "Add to these options the fact that the virtually invisible minibezel seal also denies access to dirt, dust, splashes and spills, and you have a compact and affordable touchmonitor that can be deployed in a wide range of environments and markets. The 1537L rear-mount touchmonitor
provides a convenient, space-saving design that makes deploying touch solutions to market
easier, more flexible and much more reliable."
